Sandi first fell in love with Thai Yoga Massage during the summer of 2005 while volunteering as a Karma Yogi at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Val Morin, Quebec. It was there that she received her first treatment, and after doing so, promised herself that she too would learn the art of Thai Yoga Massage so as to offer a powerful alternate form of healing to those in need.
In September of that same year (2005), however, Sandi decided to exercise her professional skills in teaching by accepting a job in a First Nations community in Northern Ontario. Through this experience, Sandi gained confidence as an instructor and provider of guidance, and thus decided to continue teaching.
The following year, Sandi pursued an opportunity to instruct students within her realm of expertise (physical education and health) in a new, exotic setting; Kuwait. In spite of the success that Sandi enjoyed during her first year at this posting, she remained dedicated to her dream of practicing Thai Yoga Massage, and after embarking on a scrupulous search to find the perfect training experience, Sandi decided to travel to Evia, Greece in August 2007 to fulfill her dream at the Sunshine House, under the leadership of Krishnatakis.
The course was transformational and inspired Sandi to continue her quest of becoming a genuine healer. After receiving her certification in Greece, she returned to Kuwait for a second year of work; this time not only as a teacher, but also, as a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner. It wasn’t long before Sandi’s evenings and weekends were filled with appointments for friends and colleagues; many of whom had never received this form of treatment before. Sandi’s incredible touch and awareness of the body left her clients feeling renewed and rejuvenated, and with this, many returned for treatments on an ongoing basis. This success overseas is what essentially led Sandi back to Canada to remain true to what she considers her passion and calling in life. Within one month of relocating back to Ontario in June 2008, Sandi traveled to Montreal to study at the highly reputable Lotus Palm School, owned by Kam Thye Chow, which also proved to be a valuable experience and she is now a certified Lotus Palm practitioner.
Sandi is also a Qualified Alexandria Professional Body Sugaring Practitioner. This has been her choice of hair removal for about 5 years, and due to its benefits, she decided to become a practitoner to bring more awareness to others about body sugaring as a natural, chemical free alternative for hair removal.
Sandi moved to Guelph at the beginning of September and has since opened up her own practice called Mettafor. She is excited to be a part of this dynamic community and to share her knowlege and acquired skills with others.
